ATTENTION BELLEVUE FOOTBALL FANS! Per Cincinnati Public Schools, our football game on Friday Sept 27th vs Gamble Montessori has been changed. The new game time will be 5 PM and will still be played at Western Hills High School.

Today is Kentucky Kids' Day! To celebrate, Grandview Elementary students have been creating their own pieces of felt art that will all come together to create one big collage!

Another Flat Ranger has returned to Ms. O'Neill's class from its National Park journey! This one returned from Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument along with this message: "First, they learned about Kentucky's born, Brigadier General Charles Young. General Young was born enslaved in May's Lick, Kentucky, on March 12, 1864. His father, Gabriel Young, served in the Civil War and after helping bring an end to the war, moved his family to Ripley, Ohio. Charles Young grew up with a focus on education and graduated high school in 1881. He became a teacher, but desired to further his education by going to college. He earned a nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point and became the third African American to graduate from the school. He served as an Army officer leading Troops of Buffalo Soldiers across the United States and even the world. In 1894, he developed the first African American ROTC program in the country at Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He also served as the first African American superintendent of a National Park, being in charge of Sequoia and General Grant national parks in 1903. In 1904, he became the first African American military attaché to Haiti and the Dominican Republic and later served in Liberia. For his work in Liberia, he was awarded the Spingarn Medal by the NAACP. In 1917, he became the first African American to be promoted to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army. Pictured is one of the uniforms the Buffalo Soldiers once wore! The Charles Young Buffalo Soldier National Monument is located in General Young's former house here in Wilberforce, Ohio. He once owned this two-story home and 80-acres of farmland around it. They once grew green beans, corn, soybeans, tomatoes, and a bunch of other vegetables. Though the park does not farm the whole property, they do have a recreated Victory Garden. Victory Gardens were huge during World War II, as they were ways people could support the war effort and keep their families and communities fed. Currently the park has grown peppers, green beans, tomatoes, mint, squash, and cucumbers."

Today in science class, Grandview Elementary Fourth Graders learned about sight, smell, touch, and memory through the eyes of animals! Students worked together to find out what these animals can infer from using their senses. #LoveTheVue #TigerPride

Last Friday, Ms. O' Neill's FLEX Class did a "Be a Happiness Maker and not a Happiness Zapper" flower arrangement activity. Students learned how to make a simple floral arrangement. They made one arrangement for themselves and then, to help spread some good vibes, they made another one to give to a school employee! Grandview Elementary’s Fall Festival was a fun time for everyone this weekend! The day was filled with fun games, good food, and fantastic raffle prizes! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, and to everyone who came out to have a great time!

Last night, Bellevue Golf’s Senior TJ Sorrell was honored before his match at Pendleton Hills. ⛳️ TJ celebrated a great career with Bellevue Golf as he finished out his season strong in preparation for Regionals next Tuesday. Congratulations on a fantastic career, TJ!

REMINDER! TOMORROW! Grandview’s 2024 Fall Family Festival will be moving to a new time and site! With construction limiting our space, we are changing the event to an outdoor space and holding it on a Saturday to help accommodate everyone who wishes to attend. The Fall Family Festival will be held Saturday, September 21st from 2 PM until 6 PM at the Ben Flora rear Parking area near the Bellevue Community Stadium/Gilligan Field. There will be booths, inflatables, food, face painting, and music! Bring the whole family for lots of fun and support Grandview Elementary!

During this session, we will cover topics that include: Cap and gown ordering information, the graduation attendance policy, Homecoming, the Senior Class trip, Common App, early college entrance deadlines, and the Portrait of a Graduate exit requirement. Today, BHS Juniors and Seniors took a trip to Newport High School's College and Career fair. Students had the opportunity to look into many different options for their futures!
