Hello Tiger Parents! Did you know that February and March are very important times for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors? Its time to start thinking about opportunities for the 2026-27 school year. It’s amazing how fast time flies! Mr. Pelgen starts meeting with students to discuss dual credit and vocational opportunities for High School students in February with trips to explore Gateway and the Campbell County Area Technology Center (ATC). These opportunities help shape the students academic and career profile for the next few years. The deadline to apply for these programs is March 15th.

Career Paths offered by the ATC are for junior and senior students. All of these options (except nursing) require a two year commitment, a minimum 2.0 GPA and in good standing with Bellevue High School.

Auto Tech
Auto Body
Electric
HVAC
Carpentry
Fire Science
Welding
Nursing (senior year)

Dual Credit options are a great way to gain college experience while also earning both college and high school credits. Students interested in dual credit need a minimum 3.0 GPA for Gen Ed courses and a 2.0 for career courses offered by Gateway. The typical dual credit student takes core content and elective courses as a junior with an option to narrow their focus on specific career pathways as a senior, such as:

Nursing
Cyber Security
Criminal Justice
Business
Manufacturing
Welding

There is an option for Sophomore students to take dual credit courses. These students must exhibit academic readiness by taking an ACT exam and meeting benchmark scores on both the Math and Reading portions of the exam. Sophomore families are responsible for the tuition bill during the sophomore year. The student must indicate their desire to participate in dual credit with Mr. Pelgen prior to March 15th AND have the ACT scores returned by Aug 1st.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Pelgen.
