Shift to NTI Learning

A statement from Superintendent Robb Smith

January 10, 2022

Dear Bellevue families,

This afternoon, the BISD COVID-19 response team met to discuss the current wave of cases affecting our district and community. Area incidence rates are currently among the highest in the state of Kentucky, and the number of positive cases and quarantines among our staff and students continues to climb at an alarming rate. Despite the stringent mitigation strategies that have proved successful over the last two years, the fast spread of this new variant is preventing us from providing the educational experience that our Tigers deserve.

It is for these reasons that Bellevue Independent Schools will transition to all-virtual NTI learning from January 13-21.

The timeline for the next two weeks is as follows:

Tuesday, January 11:

Students will report to school, allowing staff and families time to adequately prepare our students for a smooth transition to NTI learning.

Wednesday, January 12:

No School; technology and materials distribution day

Thursday, January 13 –

Friday, January 14:

NTI instruction

Monday, January 17:

No School; Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Tuesday, January 18 –

Friday, January 21:

NTI instruction

Monday, January 24:

Return to in-person instruction

All athletic programs will pause during NTI, and extracurricular events rescheduled or shifted to a virtual setting. As always, our cafeteria staff will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students at our convenient pickup locations (to be announced this week). Additional details will be updated over the next two days on the COVID-19 Info Hub, located on the BISD website.

From the early days of the pandemic, I have vowed to keep the health of our school community the top priority in all decisions. We have reached a point where the risk of in-person instruction outweighs the reward, and I am hopeful that this brief pause can return us to favorable conditions. In the meantime, should your family need any additional assistance or support, please send an email to We are always here for you.

Thank you for your continued partnership and trust.

Dr. Robb Smith, Superintendent
