After a comprehensive search from a pool of twenty-two applicants, the Bellevue Independent School District Board of Education has selected Misty Middleton as our next superintendent. Ms. Middleton has been an educator at the Williamstown Independent School District for nineteen years, serving as superintendent for the last six years. She has held the roles of elementary teacher, head start/preschool director, instructional supervisor, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Prior to her career at Williamstown, Middleton was an elementary teacher in the Grant County School District for eight years.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Middleton to the Bellevue family,” says Jenn Owens, Chairwoman of the BISD Board of Education. “Her passion for public education and infectious positivity are a natural fit for our district, allowing us to launch The Bellevue Classroom to the next level.”
Middleton holds a bachelors degree in elementary education from Northern Kentucky University, a master’s degree in education from Georgetown College, a Rank 1 teaching certification from Eastern Kentucky University, and a superintendent’s certificate from Eastern Kentucky University. She is involved in a variety of professional organizations, including the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents (KASS), the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA), and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). She is also the incoming president of the Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services (NKCES).
Misty and her husband Greg have two daughters, Carly and Haley. Carly is an instructor at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN and Haley is a student at Northern Kentucky University majoring in nursing. Middleton’s hobbies include golfing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Superintendent Middleton’s contract was approved by the BISD Board of Education at the June 8 special board meeting. Her start date is set for July 1, 2022. Middleton says she excited to join the Bellevue family and looks forward to meeting the students, staff, families and the community of Bellevue as we look ahead to the next school year.
